Our next meeting is Thursday, August 17th, Kumihimo for Beginners (or Kumihimo refresher). The very talented Lynn Hahn will be teaching. This is a great opportunity to acquire or practice your kumihimo skills, especially if you're thinking of attending the kumihimo weekend in September.
August 17th Supply List - Kumihimo bracelet
Kumihimo disk
8 bobbins
4mm Swarovski crystals - 100
Miyuki 3mm color-lined drops – 2 tubes
Size 8 seed beads – 1 tube
small clip or snap
medium twisted big eye needle (from Michaels)
shank button no larger than ¾” or toggle clasp & 2 6mm jump rings
T-135 C-Lon cord (I will have a variety of colors with me, so don’t stress over this one)
G-S Hypo Cement
Scissors
Bead mat
You can substitute almost any 4mm bead for the Swarovski crystals. Czech crystals, Preciosa crystals, pearls or druks, all will fit into the pattern. Your bracelet will just have a different ‘look’ than the ones with the crystals.
If you use 6x4mm Czech drops they will stick out from the braid, so your bracelet will have little bumps all over. Again, they work, but the look is different.
Kathy Taylor has the recommended drops at her shop. C-Lon cord is available from Lynn Hahn and also weights.
If you plan to string your beads at the meeting after buying the cord, I recommend showing up early and pre-counting your beads. Hope to see you there!
