Bezeling a Rivoli with an Open Back
We had a great meeting in August learning how to attach clasps and some of us turned our UFO's into finished pieces. Thank you Linda, Jan, Alyce and Peg for sharing your knowledge with us.
****Our September program will teach us how to Peyote Stitch around a rectangular rivoli with an open back, a technique called "bezeling". Cabochons and Rivolis have no holes so they need to be encased with a bezel so that the cab/rivoli can be attached to another object.
****You should know how to do the Peyote Stitch beforehand so here is some recommended reading:
Creating Crystal Jewelry with Swarovski by Laura McCabe. A great explanation of beading with rivolis.
Beading with Cabochons by Jamie Cloud Eakin. Great explanations and lots of inspiration and eye candy.
The Art and Elegance of Beadweaving by Carol Wilcox Wells. This is a classic that will teach you how to Peyote.
All three can be found by going to http://www.clamsnet.org
